Mayor Expresses Gratitude
The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Ciarán McQuillan, has publicly thanked everyone who supported a recent charity coffee morning in Dungiven. Funds raised will benefit MindWise, which champions mental health, and NIKPA, the Northern Ireland Kidney Patients’ Association.
The community gathering served as an opportunity to bring local residents together, while highlighting the positive impact of both charities within the borough.
First Coffee Morning in Dungiven
The inaugural event took place in Dungiven Library on Saturday 1 February, where attendees raised over £600 for MindWise and NIKPA. Guests were greeted with a range of homemade cakes and sweet treats. Councillor McQuillan expressed his appreciation, saying, “This fundraiser would not have been possible without such amazing community support. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to every person who helped, whether through donations of food or by coming along.”
He also thanked library staff for their support, noting, “I would also like to thank the staff at Dungiven Library for providing such a warm welcome and also for the use of their wonderful community facilities.”
Second Coffee Morning in Coleraine
A second charity coffee morning is set to take place in Coleraine Town Hall on Saturday 15 February from 10am to 1pm. Councillor McQuillan will be joined by Deputy Mayor, Councillor Tanya Stirling, and will present two signed special edition T-shirts donated by Ballymoney road racer Michael Dunlop to representatives from each charity.
Encouraging further support, the Mayor said, “Both MindWise and NIKPA provide much-needed support for residents in Causeway Coast and Glens, and I would encourage anyone who can, to come along on Saturday 15 February to Coleraine Town Hall, to help raise funds for both charities.”
Community Involvement and Donations
By hosting these coffee mornings, the Mayor aims to bring people together to support essential services that benefit the borough. Local residents and businesses are invited to attend the upcoming event or offer their assistance in other ways.
