Irish Music and Film Celebrated at Flowerfield Arts Centre in March

Welcome to a Celebration of Irish Culture

Flowerfield Arts Centre is inviting the public to experience a vibrant showcase of Irish creativity this March. A series of cultural events will highlight the richness of Irish music and film, offering insights into heritage, innovation, and shared community spirit. These activities form part of a wider commitment to fostering unity, supported by the Together: Building a United Community (T:BUC) strategy.

Musical Showcase

On Friday 7 March, Flowerfield Arts Centre will host an evening of remarkable talent in a sold-out concert featuring Múlú, Paddy McKeown, and Gráinne Meyer. All three artists draw from diverse musical influences—ranging from traditional Irish to contemporary electronic—and will unite these elements to celebrate Ireland’s cultural heritage. Flowerfield Arts Centre confirms there is a waiting list available for those still hoping to attend.

According to information from the organisers, this performance “will bring together diverse musical influences and celebrate not only Irish heritage, but also champion innovation in the arts, providing a space for connection, conversation, and reflection through music.”

Irish Language Film

On Thursday 13 March, the Centre will screen “Foscadh,” an Irish language film based on Dónal Ryan’s acclaimed novel “The Thing About December.” Directed by Seán Breathnach, who will introduce the screening, this poignant story follows John Cuniffe as he navigates a changing world after the loss of his parents. English subtitles will accompany the film, making it accessible to a wider audience. Flowerfield Arts Centre describes this event as an opportunity to explore “the power of the Irish language in film” while showcasing the stunning Connemara landscape.

Further Details and Bookings

Both events are free, with booking required to secure a place. Reservations can be made online at Flowerfield.org or by calling 028 7083 1400. The music event is now fully booked, but interested parties are encouraged to ring Reception to join the waiting list.

These activities have received support from The Executive Office through Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council’s Good Relations Programme. The T:BUC Strategy supports equality of opportunity, good community relations, and reconciliation, while striving to address hatred, division, and intolerance. Further information on T:BUC can be found on official government channels.

Looking Ahead

By showcasing both traditional and modern expressions of Irish culture, Flowerfield Arts Centre aims to bring people together in a shared celebration of music, film, and storytelling. Local residents are invited to enjoy these events and learn more about opportunities fostered by the T:BUC Strategy. Anyone wishing to participate in future programmes or discover additional events can reach out to the Centre or the council for more information.
